This page contains website links to a lot of my favorite companies.  I also own shares in all of the companies listed here.  Click on the links to go directly to a company's website to see first-hand what the company is doing.

The first link, however, involves going to the North Dakota oil statistics page because that state is at the center of the huge Bakken area oil basin amounting to billions of barrels of oil.  The site is very well organized, and you can navigate to some outstanding pages such as daily oil reports, how many drilling rigs are in operation, who the drillers are, how many oil wells are producing, and which companies own the wells.

The second link goes to the website of Precision Drilling, one of the biggest oil drillers in America.  They are also one of the companies who are drilling oil in the Bakken area.

The next two companies in the list are two of the big players in the Bakken oil region.  Brigham Exploration has quite a few oil wells in operation, and Northern Oil owns a lot of North Dakota land that they lease to oil companies.

American Capital is a REIT that paid a 21% dividend for all of 2009.  Admittedly, I don't know how long the big payout will last, but even if they drop to a 10% dividend, that will still be pretty good.  Dividend stocks should also be part of the diversification in a stock portfolio.

A123 Systems is a company that makes high-power lithium batteries for electric cars which will soon be in massive production by auto makers.

Beazer Homes is an excellent homebuilder that could easily double or triple in price when the housing market eventually recovers.

Ivanhoe Mines owns one of the biggest copper and gold mines in the world in Mongolia.

General Maritime and Teekay Tankers are oil shipping companies that usually pay a reasonable  dividend.

Tata Motors is a low-cost auto maker in India, where many people will soon be driving cars for the first time. Not only does India have more people than the U.S. but Tata is also planning to sell their cars in America.

Eldorado Gold and Silvercorp are mining companies with operations in China.  The gold and silver is plentiful, and the mining costs are low.

Penn West Energy is a Canadian company with a lot of resources, and they pay a dividend of 8% or more after Canada takes out their tax cut.  The dividend is also divided into monthly installments so that you don't have to wait long to get your money. 

MELA is a medical device company that produces a scanner that can detect melanoma skin cancer.

Clean Energy is the largest provider of natural gas for vehicles in North America.  Fueling stations are located in many major metropolitan areas, and we also have abundant natural gas to provide fuel for cars, trucks, and buses in the future.
