Sudden large volume spikes are a great way to spot stocks which could easily become multibaggers, companies that grow in price by 500% or more in a relatively short amount of time. One such company is Brigham Exploration which also has a link on the right for its stock price chart. The company has increased in price by more than 1000% in 2009!
Brigham is an oil company with significant wells in the northern part of the country where we may have billions of barrels of oil in the Bakken area. In May of 2009, the company had a huge volume spike of more than 15 million shares traded. The volume was more than seven times the average volume in that period. The spike looked like a skyscraper rising from the desert. It was a sign of great things to come! Shares were selling for around $3 at the time after more than doubling from a little over $1 per share earlier in 2009. By December of 2009, Brigham was selling for more than $13 per share.
If a stock is having huge volume spikes above the normal volume, and it is a reputable growing company with a product or service that many people want, or a breakthrough in technology, this is a stock that investors should buy and hold to gain 500% or more for their money. Take a look at the stock chart links on the right to see several companies that are already multibaggers or may become future great companies.
Another point to make about multibaggers is that you don't have to rush into buying a classic 1000% or better stock. You could safely wait until the company has a $1billion dollar market cap and proven abilities. It will still have a long way to grow from there if it is destined to become a large cap like Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, and GE.
